Chix in Business, Inc. is a Triangle-area network of passionate women business owners who support and educate each other through building personal and business relationships, information sharing, seminars, mentoring and philanthropic activities.

Membership Requirements & Benefits

Membership Requirements

  1. Reside and /or transact business in the state of North Carolina.
  2. Demonstrate high standards of business, professional and social leadership and must exhibit high ethical standards.
  3. Apply for membership through the Chix Yahoo Group http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/ChixEmail/
  4. Upon application, agree to Membership Terms and Etiquette.

Benefits

  1. May hold a Board of Directors position
  2. Invited to all Chix in Business, Inc. events. Fees may apply.
  3. May post emails to Chix Yahoo List.

Events and Programs

Chix in Business, Inc. is a professional networking organization. Our organization meets to build relationships, create friendships and business connections and to educate our members. Events and Programs will be announced through the Yahoo Group, Facebook or LinkedIn.  We have established these guidelines to maintain a friendly and welcoming environment.

  • Please turn off cell phones, pagers and all electronic devices that may disrupt the meeting. Also please try to avoid side talk a speaker is presenting.
  • If introductions of the group are appropriate, your personal introduction should be brief and informational. You may include any special events you are involved with and any needs you might have.
  • If you arrive after the program has begun, please be careful not to disrupt the program; you may be seated in the back of the room.
  • Please exercise caution when expressing or responding to opinions.
  • If you witness any misconduct by other members, please report them to will determine possible action.

Volunteerism

Chix in Business strongly believe in giving back to the community as individual and as an organization.  We encourage our members to organize and promote events that promote volunteerism and donating goods and services to those in need.

Emails

Chix in Business, Inc. offers an email communication list for members only. All members may receive emails and members may post emails to the group. Below is a listing of posting guidelines for the email communication list.

Allowed Material

Introductions from new members. You may introduce yourself to the group with a paragraph describing your business.

Requests for recommendations. You may email the group requesting recommendations for products and services. Please remind readers to respond only to you. You may post a compilation if there are several members email you to share responses.

Press releases and newsletters. A synopsis of a press release or a link is preferable. Specialty fonts and images may not transfer, please use plain text when possible.

Announcements regarding Chix in Business, Inc. member businesses. This may include a new business, special event or promotion, and non-profit events. You may also include events that you or your business is involved with or any volunteer opportunities.

Sharing your experience or expertise on a subject. Please be sure that topics are of interested to all members.

Inappropriate Material

Chain Letters, Jokes, Urban Legends and other forwarded emails.

Political, religious and controversial topics. Unbiased emails and town meetings are appropriate.

Inflammatory, mean-spirited, belligerent, or insulting messages, directed at any individual or group.

The use of profanity in any way, either directed toward an individual or group or in jest.

Messages which promote violence, discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age, which promote illegal activities, or violate intellectual property rights or copyrights.

Sexually explicit messages or those promoting such materials.

Job opportunities. You may post opportunities within your business or within the businesses of colleagues

Other Members

When communicating with other members, please show professionalism and respect for one another at all times. All member misconduct should be reported to the Board.

Misconduct

The Board of Directors will respond to reports of misconduct directly. Members who have violated the Etiquette of Chix in Business, Inc. may be suspended from all or part of the benefits of membership. Chix in Business, Inc. reserves the right to revoke membership at any time from any member.
